We are a manufacture of various components for the ordnance industry. We have an immediate need for 5000 each compression springs, as per the specification below: Material: Piano Wire, preferably 4 coils, guage to be suggested by manufacturer Diameter: 2.35 inches + or - 0.05 inch Free Height: 1.875 inches prefered. Usable range 1.875"" - 3.00"" Compression Deflection: after 5 cycles from free height to a height of 0.760"" + or - 0.020"" the spring should meet the following height load relationships: at 1.12 inch compressed height the spring must exert a force of 9 lbs min at 1.00 inch compressed height the spring should exert a force of 15 lbs max (acceptable range 9 – 18 lbs max) at 0.760 inch compressed height the spring should exert a force of 18 lbs max (acceptable range 9 – 22 lbs max) End Configuration: closed end with grinding to ensure a flat surface. We are currently using the spring that is in the attached pictures. This spring has a compression load of 48 lbs at 1 inch and a piano coil of 0.134 inch diameter, it is exerting too much force for our application. We need to replace the existing spring with a softer spring, as per the specifications above, utilizing the existing plastic cups.
