We would appreciate receiving your quotation for Motor + VFD for this application. In a lathe machine, the torque required to cut the metal increases as the diameter of the component increases, and vice versa. Furthermore, the RPM needs to be reduced, as the diameter increases. In other words, the operation requires more torque at low RPM and vice versa. The machine is capable of receiving a maximum input RPM of 1700. We propose to replace the existing 4 pole motor with an 8 pole motor. When this new motor is run through the VFD, at low RPM, it will deliver relatively more torque as compared to the existing motor. When run at 1700 RPM, the torque requirement in any case will be less. We request you to quote for a suitable 15 HP 8 pole motor with Frequency variator which will adjust the RPM of the motor from approx 140 RPM to 1700 RPM, giving base RPM 720, for a frequency range of 10 to 120Hz. The motor should be provided with VPI treatment on the windings & also temp monitoring transducer (like thermistor) in the windings. Our supply voltage to VFD will be 415V 3 phase 50Hz.
