Ground-Set Flagpoles. Flagpole height: 80 feet above ground – 88 feet overall. 1.02 REFERENCES A. ASTM B 241/B 241M Standard Specification for Aluminum and Aluminum-Alloy Seamless Pipe and Seamless Extruded Tube. 1.03 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: Manufacturer's descriptive literature for flagpoles, including all components. B. Shop Drawings: Indicate locations and mounting details. Include manufacturer’s installation instructions. C. Warranty documents: Issued and executed by manufacturer. Furnish flagpole manufacturer's standard warranty against defects in product workmanship and materials. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 GROUND SET FLAGPOLES A. Shaft: 1. Material: Seamless cone-tapered aluminum tubing conforming to ASTM B 241, Alloy 6063, Temper T6. 2. Finish: matte brushed . B. Truck: Cast aluminum revolving housing with stainless steel ball bearings. C. Halyard: One per flagpole as follows: 1. Material: 5/16 inch diameter, waterproof polypropylene. 2. Hardware: Two bronze swivel-type flag snaps each set. D. Cleat: Two 9” cast aluminum cleat per flagpole, finish matching shaft. This is to be shipped loose to attach to the stone base. E. Ball Ornament: 12” gold finished anodized. 2.02 ACCESSORIES A. Ground Sleeve: Galvanized steel components as follows: 1. Foundation tube: Corrugated, 16 gauge, 15” diameter minimum and length as required to extend from the top of the decorative base to the bury depth required by manufacturer for indicated flagpole height; centered on, and welded to face of base plate. 2. Base plate: ?” steel plate sized a minimum of 8 inches greater than inside dimension of foundation tube. 3. Ground spike: 3/4 inch diameter, 18 inches long; centered on, and welded to face of base plate opposite foundation tube attachment. 4. Setting plate: 6 inches square, with drilled hole at center for attachment to ground spike; welded perpendicular to length of ground spike 12 inches from base plate. B. Flash collar: Manufacturer's standard spun aluminum flash collar, finish matching shaft; size June 2008 Replace Flag Pole at Bldg 100 10350 - 1 June 2008 Replace Flag Pole at Bldg 100 10350 - 2 specified in manufacturer's descriptive literature for indicated flagpole height. 2.03 FABRICATION A. Provide self-aligning internal sleeves for shafts fabricated in sections for field assembly; fieldwelded connections, including plug-welding, are not permitted. B. Fabricate end-to-end joints of shaft sections for hairline joint after connection; match mark and number shaft sections for field assembly. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Verification of Conditions: Anchoring devices are correct type, and in correct location, in accordance with approved shop drawings and manufacturer's instructions. 3.02 PREPARATION A. Delivery, storage, and handling. 1. Spiral wrap flagpole with protective covering and pack in protective shipping tubes or containers. 2. Protect flagpole and accessories from damage or moisture. B. Scheduling. 1. Ensure that anchoring devices are supplied to installers requiring them in time for building in to substrates. 3.03 INSTALLATION A. Ground Sleeve: 1. Place ground sleeve assembly in excavation, locating as indicated; drive ground spike into undisturbed soil to extent that support plate is flush with bottom of excavation. B. Install concrete base per specification Sections 03030 and 03300 and as shown on the drawings. C. Assemble and install flagpole components and accessories in accordance with approved shop drawings and manufacturer's installation instructions.
