We are manufacturers of very specialized instrumentation that measures the moisture content in a variety of materials. Given the nature of our product and the extremely low level of moisture content that we measure, we are looking for a coating to seal an aluminum block from any moisture absorption. The coating should make the anodized aluminum block extremely hydrophobic. We are presently coating the anodized aluminum block with a Teflon coating, but we still find that we are required to boil and age the coating blocks for 30 days, before that are ready for use. Electron Microscope examinations of coating reveal minor pitting and cracking of the coating. Perhaps it is an issue of the correct application of Teflon on the anodized aluminum block. As you might suspect, the 30 day aging process is not acceptable from our perspective. We are looking for a coating or coating process that will provide us with an aluminum block that is both extremely hydrophobic and some what wear resistant. Can you please provide me with a recommended coating and/or coating process that will meet our requirements. Thanks in advance for your help.
