To Whom It May Concern: I ran across your website and have been looking for a solution to ship our containerized trees vertically inside pipe sleeves. Our trees and container diameters range from 22"" to 60"". Our thoughts have been to install the pipe sleeves vertically on our trailer and then lower each individual tree into it's respective pipe sleeve. The height of our trees range from 5' to 10'-4"". Upon delivery, we would simply remove the sleeve (by uplifting) and use the next time. We've looked at a lot of cardboard sleeves and this would work but only for a limited basis as the trees are then covered by a tree tarp (perforated) to protect from wind damage but still sometimes require watering from the top as well as are sometimes rained on while shipped on an open top trailer. Another thought we have considered is to simply ship the trees inside the pipe sleeve via common carrier (generally enclosed 53' container)on full truckload orders and would not receive the pipe sleeves back. Here cost may become an issue. The exterior wall thickness of the pipe sleeve could be very thin as it is only really permitting trees to be loaded closer together, protecting their branches from becoming entangled and from wind when not shipped enclosed. A top perforated cap and/or solid removable bottom might also be an option. Other considerations may be to provide perforated sleeves with small holes for air circulation during long shipments but this could be accomplished by simply drilling small holes in the sleeve and would only be necessary where we have top and bottom caps.
