With effectiveness and efficiency, I am able to manage production in an AGV (FMC)-controlled environment, shipping in receiving in a cross-docking setting, and route delivery and dispatch operations. Supervised, mentored, and coached 3 assistant foremen, 8 paperhandlers (warehouseman), and the 24 pressmen in completing the necessary tasks to print the Baltimore Sun newspaper. The following duties were carried out in an 800,000 square foot warehouse with an annual paper budget of $6 million and an average weekly circulation of 2,010,000 newspapers. ? Communicated with the circulation manager to receive the daily quantity of newspapers needed for the morning edition. ? Received the pressrun from the Pressroom Manager. ? Checked the pressrun layout against current reels and adjusted as necessary. ? Inputted runs into the computer (made the necessary reel changes; updated return/rejected newsprint from reels; rotated newsprint and lay-down to use oldest inventory first). ? Checked the amount of newsprint in the lay-down, if additional newsprint was needed, determined the amount the first man on duty would need to bring over. ? Performed floor walkthroughs to ensure the pressmen are loading the presses on schedule. ? Coordinated the shipping of newsprint from major carriers using CSX internet-based shipping and tracking system. Also, coordinated receipt of newsprint via railcars and trucks. ? Reviewed and assigned workload to the paperhandlers. Included: unloading rail cars/trailers; stacking, stripping, and quality checking of the paper rolls; and, shipping core racks. ? Monitored paper usage, recorded rolls per break, and measured rolls at the end of the shift to track inventory. ?
