The proposed design will carry 181.5 tons and is 75 ft 8"" over coupler pulling faces. Most rotary dumpers are set up for smaller cars, and converting an existing power plant to handle the proposed car would be economically burdensome because of the necessity for conversion. A new installation (and given the present economics there will be many such) would not suffer this burden. What I need to know is what a dumper setup for unloading such cars would look like, and what such an installation might cost. The cars could be unloaded at a rate of 90 sec per cycle (I..E.121 T/min or 7260 T/hr) The setup would have to include the rotary dumper, pit and civil work associated with it, and the conveyor system for clearing the pit and bringing the coal to a distributing conveyor system supplied by others. The car would have attractive advantages for both railways and Power Generators because of the ability to deliver more coal in less time for fewer dollars, but if the unloading system to enable this is too expensive or difficult to achieve, we would like to know about it before making presentations to customers or spending too much money for a development program of our own.
