SAIC does contract work on high energetic materials for the US Army and are seriously considering building a small scale-up / pilot plant facility. We would like to have a ~25 gal reactor with the corresponding ancillary equipment. In order to have a flexible system I believe that we should have a second 25 gal stirred reactor for addition of mixed reagents. In order to work up the reactions being run, a 50-75 gal stirred tank should be also available. We also plan to do vacuum distillations. A wiped film still is not appropriate for energetic materials. We would like this system set up in a vertical 3 tier system with the 25 gal reactors on top, the 50 gal receiver in the second level and the lower level reserved for wheeling in a filter / drier and waste drums.
