Introduction Commercial practice has proven that in order for an air filtering product to be successful and to have consumer acceptance, it needs to reduce the pollutant to the extent that the human nose should not be able to detect it. The accepted threshold level for the human nose to sense the existence of formaldehyde is 0.01mg/m3. This means that in a room with the continuous release of the pollutant, the existence of formaldehyde should be below 0.01mg/m3 at all times in order for a person not to feel uncomfortable. Also from a medical point of view, when the formaldehyde level is higher than 0.01mg/m3, the probability of it being harmful to human health is much higher and when it is lower than 0.01mg/m3, the probability of it being harmful to humans being is much lower. Theoretically, the lower the level of un-reacted pollutant in the purification process the higher the speed of purification of the air. Only when the purifying speed of the equipment is greater than the speed of release of the pollutant such as Formaldehyde can the air quality be improved and eventually reach the acceptable threshold of less than 0.01 mg/m3. By using a material that achieves a very low level of un-reacted pollutant manufacturers of air purification equipment can design and manufacture high performance air purifying products with speed of purification higher than they have been able to achieve up to this point. EES-PBCMR material satisfies the criteria of being able to be used under normal temperature, pressure and humidity, and is safe and non-hazardous, has no secondary pollution and is environmentally friendly thus achieving long lasting customer satisfaction. EES-PBCMR is the only high-tech material available that satisfies the above criteria in managing air pollution, especially in the case of formaldehyde. A. The Technology ES-PBCMR is the most advanced technology available today i.e. Packed Bed Catalytic Membrane Reactor, for the treatment of formaldehyde gas pollution. The catalytic polymerization reaction process creates polymeric aldehyde solid matter from the formaldehyde gas. The polymerized formaldehyde is very stable and therefore practically eliminates any release of the gas after being absorbed. In addition there is no secondary pollution from the intermediate stage in the process and as the residual matter has no secondary pollution, the safety level for human health is very high. Cost for manufacturing the relevant air filtering subassemblies is low. Test Results and Technical Data: 1、EES-PBCMR/A&B specific gravity: 0.61g/cm3 2、VOC gas pollutant absorbency, using toluene as a testing substance: every 100g ‘EES-PBCMR/B’ can absorb toluene 28 ~ 33g 3、Non-absorbed VOC: <0.5 ~ 0.0 ppb 4、Formaldehyde Gas absorbency: every 100g EES-PBCMR/A can absorb 6g formaldehyde Life-span: for a standard air purifier using 1500g EES-PBCMR filtering material, to be used in a 54m3 room, when the releasing speed of the formaldehyde pollutant is 1.4mg/m3 per day, then the life-span of the EES-PBCMR is: (1500g)*(6%)/{[30day*(54m3)*0.0014g/m3]/per day}=40(month life span) 5、Non-reacted formaldehyde gas in the polymeric reaction process: 0.05 ~ 0.01 mg/m3 6、Depend on weight, model of the EES, the mechanical and electrical design of the air purifier, circulation speed, circulation dead corner etc the speed for purifying formaldehyde gas pollutant may vary. The following testing data is based on EES-#3: using a standard domestic air purifier filled with 1500g EES-PBCMR material,in a 30 m3 sealed room, the initial density of gas formaldehyde pollutant was1mg/ m3, the purifier working continually for 150minute, density of the air formaldehyde pollutant reduced to 0.1mg/ m3, it shows that the speed for purifying formaldehyde gas pollutant is 60* (30 m3)*( 0.9mg/ m3/h)150min =10.8 mg(formaldehyde) per hour。The overall speed may increase if the amount of the EES material used increase. If use ‘intakes from the bottom and exhausts from above’ model the speed for purifying formaldehyde may also increase. B. Applications EES-PBCMR material can be used for manufacturing the following: 1、 Air filtering subassemblies for air purifiers 2、 Air filtering subassemblies for Intakes and Exhausts of building air conditioners 3、 Air filtering subassemblies for automobile air conditioners 4、 Air purifying material for industrial/Factory enterprises C.
