I have a fiberglass repair business in central Minnesota which mainly consists of repairing boats and personal watercraft. From time to time I come across a boat that needs repair in an area that is difficult to bring back to original condition. On most boats today there are areas that have a textured pattern built right into the surface of the gel coat. When doing a repair in these areas, its required to grind out the texture to do the repair and then replace the texture over the repair to bring the boat back to original condition. There are companies out there (like Gibco Flex Mold) that produce flexible molds for this purpose. On occasion I come across a pattern that is not available because the pattern is not repeatable therefore there are no molds. These flex molds are flexible and appear to be a vinyl of sorts with a cloth liner imbedded in the middle. The molds look and feel like someone cut out a piece of a vinyl seat. That’s the feel and consistency. My question is do you or would you be willing to sell me a small sample of the liquid material you use to make vinyl so I can try to make one of these molds for myself?
